Can't seem to update my T43...help

Hi all,

This will be my first post after lurking here for a little while,
I decided that I needed the advice from you T43 experts here.
(hope I posted this in the right thread..mods don't hurt me *ducks*)

I'm having trouble updating the BIOS of my T43 2687-D8U (it's still stuck at 1.08 ) and the latest Embedded Control Program, after downloading both from the IBM support site.

The BIOS update (1.28 ) seems to install ok (double-click, follow instructions), but after restarting it, the version is still the old one.

I tried using the updating tool in ThinkVantage, and when I ask it to search for the updates I need, the search didn't turn up with the BIOS update, but it did have the Embedded Control Program under a "Recommended" update. So I installed it (it showed that it was a successful installation.) but the version was still the old.

(I'm using both CPU-Z and the Access IBM thing to check the versions)

Am I missing something basic here? or there's something wrong with this T43? Anyone else had that problem?

Any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem. I solved it by using the diskette version of teh BIOS update and using a bootable USB floppy drive to install.

i believe that a bootable CD can also be used to update the bios..
