Wireless network adapter constantly disconnects on Z60m

#1 Post by paulisme » Mon Jul 24, 2006 9:29 pm

I own a Z60m which has developed a problem where the wireless network adapter constantly disconnects from my home network for a minute or two at a time, then reconnects. The problem started out a few weeks ago and has gotten progressively worse, with the disconnects now happening about every five minutes. This has rendered the wireless network functionality almost useless. Has anyone else encountered a similar situation with the Z60m? Any suggestions?

This happens to me too. I was stable and running fine for weeks. Then, all of a sudden my T41 started dropping every 3-6 min :? , then my Z61t  , then my two desktops ...

I've switched routers (from this to this), bought new wireless cards (from this to this) and even bought an extender.

P.S. The T41 and Z60t are using their built-in wireless cards.

HELP!

Ive had the problem several times, and there are a few causes. First I would check the WEP encrytion, make sure that if you use it that you set your Acess Connections for it. If nothing is set in the profile, but the router uses WEP, it will connect but will disconnect every 10 minutes or so. Sometime a restart of the router helped, just go to 192.168.0.1 and restart it there.

Try to change the channel used by your router. I've had that problem with 10+ people using the same channel in the same "area" and my connection (and I guess their also) was not stable. I changed the channel and now eveything's fine. Just give it a try ...

Ahhh guys/gals; if you could post relevant related information from the beginning, it would make troubleshooting your problem easier. You did not state which WiFi adapter card you have in your Z60m, neither which wireless router you are trying to connect to. If you have one of the Intel cards, the following might be your problem.

I've tried this before, but it's def worth another try. In fact, I believe the problems started when I noticed other routers appear (when windows searches for connections/routers). I changed channels for the fourth time last night. We'll see. I'm hopeful.

p.s. I didn't mean to hijack this thread. Should I move to another?
