Dell C510/C510 (C500/600 series) Service Manual?

#1 Post by tfflivemb2 » Tue Jul 25, 2006 2:21 pm

Does anyone have access to the service manual for a Dell C510/610?

I have one that got wet, and I am pretty sure that it is toast, but it might just be the video card, which appears to be removeable, but I am not sure if that is what it is or not. A manual would be very helpful here.

I think that I remember reading that someone on here has a background with Dell systems.

/wishing for a Thinkpad HMM. :(

Dell service manuals are available online.
This one is for the C610: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/s ... /index.htm.
And yes, you can replace the video card.

I have a lot of experience with Dell systems. The video card is removable for sure. The video card sometime can become really unstable, either replace it or live with it.

You can boot into safe and revert to the last known working configurations. Then uninstall the video card. If you can boot into windows, you know you have a bad video card (uninstable).

Thanks. I looked on their site, as well as googled and couldn't find anything.

This system doesn't show anything on the LCD, or on an external display, but it sounds like it is working. The HD light flashes occasionally. No sound either, but that could be because it might be sitting on a post/boot error.

I currently have C600 waiting for fix. The problem is also "no video". I found that the video card is at fault and newer driver will kill the video card. I uninstal it and then use the generic video driver. It works. You may try my method mentioned above to see if newer driver caused the problem.

Yes, if the video card is dead, it will not POST.

For your information, "NO VIDEO but can POST" is a common problem for the C500/600 series.
