Question about using Mini-Dock with T42

Question about using Mini-Dock with T42

So I got a mini-Dock for my T42 and it appears to work fine. All the ports work and DVI @ 1680x1050 is fine. My question is: with every dock I've ever used, Windows shows the option to undock the machine. This does not happen with the Mini Dock, is that the way it is supposed to work?
Have used just about every ThinkPad since the T42 days...

Yes, mini-Dock is closer to Port Replicator then full Docking Station.
