Wireless and BlueTooth Devices Disappeared.

#1 Post by WilsonF » Wed Jul 26, 2006 6:33 am

Hello, from Western Australia, where I am vacationing. I have a T60p 2623DDU on which everything has worked fine until now.

I stayed in a hotel with w wired connection, and I tunred off bluetooth, the Verizon Sierra modem and the Intel 3945 abg WiFi using the Fn+F5 buttons.

Since then, I can't get any of these devices back. They don't show up in device manager. If I select the ThinkPad Access Connections wireless manager (the thing with the Red bars) on the task bar and try to turn on wireless radio, I get an error message headed "ThinkVantage Access Connections" saying "The the internal wireless device is set to 'Radio off' in the BIOS setup or powered off by the hardware switch" [OK].

If I hit Fn+F5 and select "alternate between powering on all radios and powering off all radios" I get a message saying "The hardware wireless radio switch must be in the on position to use the wireless radios. [OK]"

The Bluetooth device configuration shows no bluetooth device connected.

For what it's worth, the parallel port is grayed out in TP Configuration, and I hadn't done anything to it before.

I have reset the BIOS to default setting. I also have hidden the bluetooth, Wireless WAN and WiFi, booted, and then unhidden them and booted.

Does anyone have any idea what in the world is going on with my TP before I call Lenovo in

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but did you check the little hardware switch on the front of the laptop that turns wireless devices on and off?

It doesn't sound stupid - that is the solution. I didn't know that switch was there. Thanks.
