T43 acts like CTRL key is stuck

#1 Post by xenos » Wed Jul 26, 2006 3:17 pm

I have a user with a T43 that acts like the control key is stuck. It starts to highlight cells in Excel, but it also carries over to other apps like Outlook, Project and even Windows Explorer. It doesn't happen all the time, just randomly and I am not sure what is triggering it.

I've checked the Windows Xp Stick Keys feature, uninstalled the IBM Keyboard customizer, replaced her wireless mouse, replaced her docking station and external keyboard. I've even moved the hard drive to another T43. At one point I got desperate and even imaged another brand new T43 for her. She's basically had 3 T43's and the problem keeps coming back.

I wasn't going to post anything on this site because I was not sure it was a problem with the T43. This is my only user with this problem and we have quite a few T43's deployed. However, I just heard two other accounts ot this issue from another department. They do not use the IBM factory image. They have their own, as do I.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have this problem but only if I just finished a Shift-Ins to paste an item, then the keyboard seems to have the Shift key locked. I can get it back to normal if I just press the Shift key by itself. Seems to happen on multiple XP machines that I have used, although not all the time....
