T43 Wireless problem again with a twist!

#1 Post by TPadguy » Wed Jul 26, 2006 10:44 pm

So, I lost my wireless connectivity after upgrading access connections, css7 and R&R....I tried evrything and nothing worked....Finally I tried the utuility to reset the TCP/IP stack etc...

Voila the wireless seems to work fine now, although access connections is not seeing any networks even though I am connected.

The bigger problem though is now I cannot establish a VPN connection with a sonicwall global vpn client that worked fine before...I tried reinstalling but it made no difference. I am sure this has something to do with rewriting stuff in the registry but not sure what....

Anybody have any clues/ideas?

Really need this client up and running again..Sure hope Lenovo improves its software QA or else Dell might start looking good....Only kidding!

thanks

DO you need to reinstall your vpn software from scratch and rebind the vpn software to the connections? We have to do that whenever we add a new network device(wireless or wired) or reset it fresh.

To be honest I am not sure. I have never had this problem before...Usually we install the client import the security policy, enable the connection, log in and you are good to go.....

I could be wrong though....I hope it is something simple.....

VPN client always makes problem, I don't know what kind of vpn client do you use. If it's the SecuRemote client, make sure the check point SecuRemote is checked in the network property setting and the service "Check Point SecuRemote Service" has been started before you can go through vpn

Another thing I have noticed is that even though I reset the tcp/ip stack sometimes when I power down the notebook, the wireless connectivity ends again...After I reset the stack again, it works fine, what is with that?

Thanks.....

Okay, figured out the vpn client problem. It was just a security policy issue.....

However, I still have the problem with...If I restart the computer the wireless continues to work fine, but if I shut down the machine and do a cold start the wireless often dissapears and the tcp/ip stack needs to be reinstalled to make it work..Also the access connections still never works...Do I need to reinstall access connections to fix this problem or is the wireless turning off not related to that?

These computers are beginning to be more time consuming than they are worth! I NEVER had these problems before Lenovo took over...

I think it is AC(access connection) problem. I had the same problem before with my nb T40p, it can not find my router AP and no function fn+f5 with the new AC version(Mabe v4.12).

So I take AC v3.7 for my t40p, it works well

Well you can stop the drive and sofeware updating and use the best one working

Good luck
