#1 Post by ambientscape » Fri Jul 28, 2006 11:53 pm

Anyone using the slim drive adapter for UltraBay 2000?? I know it enable those old thinkpads to fit the new slim drive like the T40's and above...but how reliable is this thing? I saw one up on ebay for about $60 including shipping.....is that worth the penny?

I use it all the time for system backups etc.

I have both the original Ultrabay 2000 adapter and the Slim one - you need the slim one for using a second hard drive in the ultrabay of the newer thinkpads.

That's not what ambientscape is referring to.

The slim drive adapter for the UB 2000 allows you to take the slim drives from your T4X, etc. machines and put them in an UB 2000 bay.

ambientscape I have one and use it infrequently in my A31p desktop replacement. It's nice to have in my "collection" but I have no real use for it.

I'm pretty sure IBM/Lenovo still sells them for around $49, but the parts site is down at present for maintenance.

That's right James....I was refering to the slim drive adaptor that allows drives from T4X series to fit in. Anyway, thanks for the information about the Ultrabay 2000 hard disk adaptor, sapper,.

I've already had the hard drive adaptor for the UB 2000 and just want to get the another one to complete my collection.

There's on on US eBay at the moment... sorry I can't look up the URL but I saw it last night. Try search in the Computer categories using "Ultrabay slim".

Cheers,

Bill
