Vista Problems on T43

#1 Post by Billh » Mon Jul 31, 2006 2:16 pm

Instlalled the 5384 Beta2 build of Vista. Had to remove NAV first, but then the install "seemed" to go OK though it did take forever. Now the machine is consistently sitting at 100% cpu even though task manager doesn't snow any high cpu processes. I've got 2GB RAM. Can't get Explorer, etc to even load.

Any ideas? Right now it's a brick.

I've had similar problems to yours, there is a lot of information in reference to the IE crashing. Google.. You'd be better off reinstalling than trying to fix it.

This isn't just IE crashing. It's the system from boot on running constantly at 100% cpu. Task manager shows no tasks consuming the resources. Tried insuring that all tasks are shown, but it won't respond. I'll look (again) but was hoping to hear something more than "google" on the site dedicated to thinkpads.......

Well there has not been a lot of issues here in reference to Vista, there are some threads on it, but i'm here a lot and have not read any with your particular problem. I have however installed Vista on several systems including two of my thinkpads, and have had problems similar to what you have, sans the %100 cpu usage. There is a lot of information "generally" on the net about problems with Vista betas, just not here, hence my "suggestion" to google, it was in no way meant in any way but to help.

There is some "fixes" to supposedly make explorer load better but they never worked for me.
