IBM Travel keyboard w/ ultranav... same as laptop keyboard?

#1 Post by daeojkim » Mon Jul 31, 2006 11:35 pm

This is a question for those who have used IBM Travel keyboard with UltraNav.

Is the quality of key stroke same as notebook keyboards in our thinkpads? i.e. short and soft quiet key strokes?

I would like to purchase a keyboard with trackpoint and from what I remember, the full size IBM keyboard with trackpoint had long key stroke length so I did not like it. I am wondering if the smaller travel keyboard is any different.

If anyone had any experience I would greatly appreciate some input.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, key stroke is the same. All though it's very light and thin but still stays firmly on the desk. I use it together with my Dock and much prefer it over regular keyboards.

Been thinking about buying this exact keyboard for my desktop computer. Simply because the keyboard on the Thinkpads are the best I've ever tried.

MTH,

Thanks for the reply. I am glad to hear that the travel keyboard feels the same way as the regular laptop keyboard.

I guess I will have to find one with a decent price.

I just looked, and they are frickin expensive.

87 euros (like 100$) is the cheapest I could find.

I got one of these a while back and the keypad is very nice, comparable to my laptops, very nice to use with my desktop.

I am planning to use dual monitor set up wi the laptop. I already got a mini dock today from a local seller that I was able to find through craigslist for $35 (excellent deal).

The price is pretty high, $99 retail price. Even on e-bay BIN price w/ shipping is $90, which is pretty high. But I guess it is something that you have to pay for a high qualty keyboard with trackpoint.

I will lurk around to see if I can get one at descent price.
