What temperatures does your Thinkpad run at? Thresholds?

What temperatures does your Thinkpad run at? Thresholds?

Hi Thinkpad forums.

Using the TP fan utility, I've gotten rid of the fan noise. However, I only use it when doing low CPU load work.

The summer in Denmark is currently very hot. Temperatures outside varry between 28 and 32 degress, making my T43 hotter. So I raised the bar a little.

Currently my temperature thresholds look like this:
Level=52 0
Level=56 3
Level=58 4
Level=65 7
Level=70 128

I've set them this way, because the system (when doing low CPU load stuff) rarely gets hotter than 53 degrees. So basically, the fan is always off - with a few exceptions.

When running @BIOS the idle temperature is about 47 degrees. Some 17 degrees above room temperature, which is fair enough.
But now it runs constantly at around 52-53 degrees.
Will this harm the machine in any way?
I'm asking because I'm thinking that maybe IBM has a valid reason for cranking up the fan on the T43's.

NOTE: The by far hottest component is the PCI WLAN card. The CPU is generally around 6 degrees cooler. Which actually amazes me abit.

If anyone would like to recommend setting or just post their hardware and temps, please do so here :)

I can't hear the fan on my T42.. my T40 was a bit louder and audible.

I don't use the Fan control anymore.. I can't hear the fan compared to my T40. But it idles around 44C for me, under load maybe 50 ish, under gaming, 59?
