Losing my mind with Battery problems

#1 Post by xkelly » Fri Aug 13, 2004 8:50 pm

Hi,

I have a T21. Battery Max Miser has been showing my main battery health in the yellow. I've tried recycling it by bringing it up to a full charge (Lion), then draining it completely. All shut down times disabled and such. When I recharged, I checked the health. It was the same. So I bought a brand new main battery. The battery health on the new batter also read as yellow. I just recycled it and now it's RED! I have an ultrabay battery that is in the green with out any problem. What is going on here? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

xkelly-

You may have found this out by now through reading other posts, but recycling/fully discharging Lion batteries actually degrades battery health. I'm guessing that this is what happened. Unlike older NC batteries, for Lion batteries, multiple shallow discharges are usually better than a deep discharge.

Thanks for your reply, William. I didn't know that about Lion. It was the MaxMiser Help where I got the tip to do a full drain. I won't be doing that again anytime soon.

Since the battery came out of the box yellow, the online seller is sending me another, no questions. I just have to return the first one. Pretty fair. I hope this one is green.

Regards,

-S
