Hi,
The DVD-RAM UJ-822S drive in my T43P has been working fine for the last year. Suddenly, I wasn't able to burn CDRs. Everytime I put in a blank CD, I got this message:
"DLA cannot use this blank media until it has been formatted. Would you like to format this media now?"
Hmm. I called Lenovo and was told to update my system software. This spawned a variety of new Access Connections problems (solved via searching this board and taking the advice of those with many feathers) but didn't help me write any CDRs. I called back and they asked me to review any software I had installed and consider going back to a previous restore point. Good idea, but nothing obvious. I tried disabling DLA, which some related posts had suggested. Still no dice.
So I poked around and finally determined that a check box was not clicked:
My Computer
right click on CD drive
Properties
Recording Tab
"Enable CD Recording on this device" was unchecked!
I wonder how it got unchecked? Anyway, I thought I would post this in case anyone else runs into this problem.
