missing serial number sticker- warranty void?

#1 Post by xkeithx » Thu Aug 03, 2006 7:38 pm

i acquired a broken t42p from a friend and the machine is under warranty, however the serial number sticker is missing. i have paperwork with the serial number so i know what it is, but the system board is damaged so the machine doesn't turn on, and there is no way to validate the serial number in the bios. will ibm fix my machine even though the sticker is missing?

call the hotline and ask?

it might be enough to send a copy of the paperwork along ;)

Warranty Sticker

#3 Post by rosemarycane » Thu Aug 03, 2006 8:36 pm

I purchased my T43 second hand through ebay. The sticker on the botttom was partial pulling off the bottom of the laptop. The last time I sent it in for service, they replaced the aging sticker with a new one.

I would call the EZSERV depot, give them your serial number and model number, and then explain to them or write a note to include in the box about your sticker. Chances are, they will replace the sticker when you send it in for service.

Good Luck!
