Anybody heard of this: USB storage center?

#1 Post by bigtiger » Fri Aug 04, 2006 11:29 am

I have way too many external stuff. Anybody heard of a product like the following:

--basically a USB storage box with one USB outlet
--can connect at least two 3.5 inch hard drives
--connect one 5in internal DVD burner
--Somer memory readers functionality, like SD, CF,MMC,xD, etc.

Anybody saw something like the above? For people like me who use laptop as a main computer, I think it is essential to have something like above. But I have not seen any.

Well, maybe I am asking too much.

To me it sounds like a second PC.

I have not seen anything that includes all the features that you are looking for.

I too have many external devices but each is separate and use a USB hub to connect all those devices. I pretty much stack them up on top of each other.

But it is not a bad idea to have something that you have described. At least a empty box with SATA interface for HD's with multiple USB ports.

Me too. I have 4 and they are all connected to a USB Hub.

Technically, I do not think it is that difficult. It sounds like a second PC, but it is really not.

I think all it needs is a more powerful power box and a multi-connector (not sure if it is the right word though). Then just stack them all.
