can the microphone in jack be used as Line in on X41?

I think this question also applies to T4x as well.

Apparently, line-in and microphone-in uses different signal levels. I wonder if the motherboard in those models support automatic detection so that the microphone jack can accept line-in as well.

You would have to get either a External USB sound card or PCMCIA sound card such as Creative Audigy ZS for notebooks or Echo Indigo.

I hear that Echo is a better choice although more expensive.
