keyboard buffer - audio signal is very loud
Hello folks,
I am a proud owner of a R60 Thinkpad (Product Number: 9461-54G). My problem is, that I receive a very loud audio signal when i push three or more buttons at the same time (which actually happens more than 2 times a day).
I receive this audio signal over my headset, too. And it's so loud that it's like a shock moment (I get frightened all the time).
Can I switch this off or put the volume down a little bit? I already tried to switch off the pc speaker in the BIOS, but I didn't find the right option to do this (is it possible at all?).
Thanks in advance for any help I can get!

I think you need to turn down the volume of your ThinkPad by using the hard-wire round switches on top of the F4 and F5 key (I have an R52 and if your key positions are the same).
It appears that if you turn down the volume by the Window's software control, it only changes the Windows' volume. As those bleeping is from the ThinkPad, you need to turn them down using the ThinkPad switches. When turning the volume down like this, you should have some screen indication that you are doing so.
Hope it works.

thanks for the answer. But that doesn't solve the problem. The volume of the audio signal is turned down by these buttons, but my whole sound volume is affected by this. So if I turn down the volume this way i can't hear anything any more (even if I put the volume settings in windows to 'maximum').
Thinkpad R60
Restart and go into BIOS
Go to "Alarm" and disable beep when changing volume.
Try this and let us know if it still beeps.
I think the beep is caused because the certain key combination affects volume adjustment control. If you disable this the beep should go away.
