Formatting T43

Hi

Is it ok when I format my system and reinstall OS?
Since I am newbie here, how to do it safely?

Which data should I have before I format it?
And how about software from IBM like ThinkVantage for finger print and so on?
Is it inclusive in 'rescue and recovery v. 3.1' ?

are you talking about a clean install of windows XP, i.e. a retail CD or using the restore CD's from ibm/lenovo?

Of course you can reinstall OS on a thinkpad.
The first thing I bought my T43 back was Fdisking,Formatting,Reinstall the IBM OEM XP SP2,then downloading the necessary drivers and softwares from official site of Lenovo.
I feel it's a much cleanner OS than the OS from the R&R disk.
