I have an annoying problem with my T40 and I'm hoping someone here might have the fix.
Using an S-Video cable attached to the TV, as well as an audio cable, I was hoping to be able to watch and hear movies on the TV.
I can see my desktop on the TV just fine and hear the audio as well, but the movie simply displays as a dark area on the TV screen. That is, with both LCD and TV enabled I can see the movie on the LCD but there is only a black rectangle where the movie should be on the TV.
This happens no matter what the movie type, compressed or regular DVD, on the hard disk or in the DVD. Whether full screen or the smallest viewable size. It also makes no difference which software player I use and I have at least 4 different ones.
I believe I have all the correct settings activated, but maybe I missed something?

No DVD playback on TV
With the ATI graphics adapter, right-click on an open area of the desktop, choose: Properties > Settings > Advanced > Overlay > Theater mode options... > then on Overlay Display Mode choose radio button: Theater Mode or Same on all. It is possible to see the video on the ThinkPad and your TV at the same time.
