T41p Heatsink/Fan Assembly upgrade.

#1 Post by djpharoah » Wed Aug 09, 2006 8:43 am

I was just thinking ... is it possible to swap out the stock T41p heatsink/fan assembly for one from a T42/T43?

Are there any differences between the T41p and T42p/T43p heatsinks? The reason I ask is because Im curious to see if temps would drop even more.

Between T41p and T42p there is no difference in the heatsink, the T43p there is more material to tranfer the heat, use the search option there is one thread where the user replaced his sink with a T43p one.

I had put a T43p fan in a T41p with a 2.1ghz CPU. I didn't do any tests before and after because is was a rebuild with bad fan. The T43p fan fits and I figured it might help with the extra heat of the 2.1Ghz cpu but I don't have any evidence to prove it. I have since parted out that machine when I upgraded to a T60p so I cannot do any additional tests.

It might be. I sold two T41p's and it was in one of them. Best way to be sure is to check the FRU on the fan.
