X6x Shipping thread
It really upsets me that some people, who ordered the exact same product that I did, about 2 weeks after I did (i ordered early in the day on the 31st), are getting their product. (X61 tablet with SXGA, no WWA)
I was supposed to get this shipped the 19th, and now status page says 7/20. When I called in (after a 1.4 hour hold), they said "first week of July". Are they kidding me? I don't know if some people have priority accounts who have been posting these super-quick order/delivery times, but I think its generally unfair. I ordered early on purpose because I need this thing before a 7/2 to have it registered for the CA Bar Exam, now it looks like that's not going to happen. Kind of frustrating when 70% of the reason I went with Lenovo was the (alleged) superior customer service.
Sorry for the rant... Although I do have a question. When those of you that had yours ship, did the status page reflect the shipping that same day? next day? Thanks.

the exact same thing happened to me man. i ordered the same time you did and got the same delay message and new ESD that you did. but when I called them on 6/20 when i got that message, they said mine had actually shipped out that morning. the guy basically said that the 7/20 ship date is bogus, and that they just put the date 30 days later to assume the worst case scenario on a delay. it seems like i ordered about the same configuration as you did, so i bet your has prolly already shipped out or should very soon.MojoSND wrote:It really upsets me that some people, who ordered the exact same product that I did, about 2 weeks after I did (i ordered early in the day on the 31st), are getting their product. I'm in the same boat as others here. I had first ordered an x60 thinking that th x61 would be too expensive, and the deal was very good. I placed the order online on 5/30. Lenovo changed to another deal, and after configuring my order online early 5/31, I saw the price difference was minimal, so I went ahead and called first thing in the morning for an x61. The rep was very pleasant, and what was originally a 6/12 ship date for the x60 now turned in to a 6/19 ship date. OK, not doing too bad here.
I then discovered that when the rep put the order in over the phone, he did not include the UltraLight screen. So I called again, only about a 25 minute hold time, and the change was made. I was told I would receive a confirmation of the change the next day. Of course, I did not. This was sometime around 6/7 or so. I called again in a week or so, could not get in touch with my rep, so I went in to the general queue. This was probably a 30-40 minute hold time this time, and I was told that only my original rep could make the change. So I finally had the time to call again on 6/19, and after being put in to the priority queue, there was a wait time of about 50+ minutes. Finally got a rep, who was very pleasant, and told me that my original rep was out sick, but he was back, and that this change should be made by the morning, and I would get an e-mail confirming it. Of course, I never got the e-mail. The rep is back, but doesn't accept phone calls because of the high call volume, so I have e-mailed him and I'm waiting a response.
So far, the order status page still shows the standard screen, and it shows the ridiculous 7/20 ship date. Still don't know where my order is, or what status is it, or really anything for that matter.
If it wasn't for Lenovo quality and the fact that this is a very cheap price for an ultraportable that is quite good, I would have canceled my order a while ago. Although I can imagine that probably wouldn't be done right, either.
Sorry for the long post, but I had to rant a little.

Don't worry, you will get a delay notice in about midnight todayroblim wrote:On 6-7-07, I ordered an x61s. Ship date of 6-25-07. But it still has not moved beyond "in process" so it appears to be delayed. Rats.
The last sales person I talked with, he stated that all CTO X61's won't be shipped until early July.
really? did that include the tablets?
All i can say is that customer service has been so bad that I am going to start campaigning against buying Lenovo. I have been told that my laptop is shipping "later today" or "tomorrow morning" or "by the end of the week" about 5 different times, each time the date passing with no progress.
The latest e-mail ASSURED me that mine would ship the 27th. I fully expect them to blow that date as well. I dont mind a product not coming out on time as much as I do being jerked around; having my hoped built up and smashed over and over. Come on sales reps, give it to us straight.

I just called on my X61s that I ordered 6/7. It was estimated to ship on the 26, but was changed to the 27, and now the CSR says early July. Part of my purchase decision was that American Express was giving a 6% discount on Lenovo products if purchased in June. However, my credit card won't be charged in June, so I won't get the discount.
I was also a little disappointed that the CSR I talked to was in India and really couldn't tell me much about an exact shipping date or the reason it was being delayed.
I contrast this experience with the Dell XPS 1210 I ordered on Friday. Yesterday I got an email notice saying it has shipped. Now that is good turnaround.
I am going to call back tomorrow morning and demand a significant discount for these delays. If they won't give it to me, I'm canceling.

My X61t order from 6/7 that I've been trying to cancel since 6/8 just arrived at my door. Argh! Lenovo customer service is ridiculous. The second order I placed less than an hour after this one (same exact config, but with an X6 Ultrabase with DVD-Burner) is still in-progress.
The order number showed up as invalid yesterday, so I thought they finally cancelled the order like I wanted, but now I have to deal with an RMA and asking for credit for the Tailormade discount because my second order is in the 10% tier, while this one is 7%...

Those on the Fatwallet forum that contacted Amex Tailormade all come back saying Tailormade will honor the discount based on when the order was placed, not when it ships. My X60t order that shipped after the discount changed a few months ago got the discount that was effective at the time I placed my order (15% vs. nothing).roblim wrote:Does the amex tailormade rebate drop down to a lower % if charged in July or do we lose it all together?evil_attorney wrote:I just called on my X61s that I ordered 6/7. I got a great deal on the x61s even w/o the amex rebate, so I am not going to be canceling or anything but it would be sweet to get something back from amex.
Good to hear about the Tailormade discount. Who knows, the discount may even be bigger after the end of the month. I got word that they had a pretty awesome promotion for Dell for up to $500 off the lowest price, but it was snatched up within minutes.
It appears that my x61s order is finally in the warehouse. I was told I would get a final confirmation of the order and the change to the Ultralight screen, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm really hoping it gets built this week. That would mean only a one month turnaround time, which isn't that bad, right?
I also wonder if Lenovo will give us x61 customers an incentive like they did for the T61. To get at least something for our long delay. Of course I'm asking a question I already know the answer to.

Yea, I managed to snag the $500 discount for the Dell and ordered the 1210. However, Tailormade forced you to order through a special Dell website and jacked the prices up. It ended up being about $150-200 less than the promotion Dell was currently running. Still good, which is why I ordered one up.
A month turn around sucks compared with other companies. For example my two working day turn around ordering my 1210.
What kind of "incentive" did T61 customers get?

They got a choice of a few different things, such as an extra battery and stuff like that. Nothing ground breaking, but something to ease the pain. T61 customers definitely went through a lot more hell than us, though.evil_attorney wrote:What kind of "incentive" did T61 customers get?
Even though it isn't an ultraportable per se, I'm really considering RMAing the x61s when I get it and get the new Dell XPS M1330 instead, especially if a really good deal comes up. HDMI, discrete graphics, slot loading DVD, thin, 13.3 LED display. Very compelling.

I called again today after getting my automated order delay email. The person at the India call center supposedly called the production center and asked about the delay. He was not able to get any additional information from them and therefore gave me the standard "in the next few days" answer. However, he did mention that problems getting some of the parts (didn't specify which parts) were holding things up.
I told him I was not happy with this delay and uncertainty and that some compensation would be nice. He said that if the x61s hadn't shipped by July to call back and they would do something for me.

I had to cancel my previous order of a x61 that was suppose to ship on the 26th of June, I called to change the warranty on that and apparently that would delay the ship date till the 27th of July (a whole month)
i reordered a x61s on the 26th of June and the new ship date is 13th of July, let's see how that goes.

I ordered X61 Tablet on June 16(Saturday) using SPP eCoupon USXIBMSPPTRIPLE. However, it seemed like the coupon didn't work because the price in the email I received sooner from Lenovo was the price without the coupon. So I ordered it for the second time by quoting instead of placing order. This time everything was fine and the email I got showed the correct price.
So I called Lenovo on June 18(Monday) and asked them to cancel my first order. I checked the status of the first order one week after the call(Monday, June 25), it was still showing "IN PROCESS"! How could it take a whole week to cancel my order?! So I called Lenovo again and told the csr the whole thing. Guess what he said! He said: I can cancel it now! I was totally confused by that! Then he explained by saying that "the cancellation has been requested, blablabla..." To make sure the cancellation was really sucessful, I checked the order status when I was online with him, and interestingly, the first order this time was cancelled!
So what did Lenovo do during the whole week after my request of cancellation?! Why didn't the cancellation succeed after a week, and now it only takes a second to finish the cancellation? I can't figure out the reason and am so confused by the operation of lenovo!

OK, I got a call from my rep yesterday
, and it would appear that they are canceling and rebooking a lot of the orders. I think they had such a meltdown at the factory that the only thing they can do is try to get a clean slate and hope for the best.
So, my previous order that should be canceled is still showing In Process, and the new order I placed is not yet in the system. Not a great sign. He did say it would *hopefully* ship next week, so let's hope for the best.

I got my Dell 1210 last night and am very happy with it except the weight (it's about 5.5 pounds with the extended battery). Fed up with Lenovo's delays and customer service, I called up and demanded they cancel my order. The rep gave me a hard time about canceling and just kept repeating that they "custom build" the systems for the order. I told him to cancel the order or knock $150 off the price. Apparently he didn't have the power to do that, but he put in a request for the discount and is going to call me back by tomorrow morning. If I can get the x61 for around $900, the delays will have been worth it.
