Just to give everyone an update. I ordered x61 tablet first week of June and it was shipping July 2nd to my old address. After a multitude of calls to UPS / Lenovo they finally re-routed to the new address and was delivered this morning. It would have been here last friday but I just missed the guy. So glad it's finally here.

Booting up as we speak.

FWIW, I had the x60 tablet before this and ended up returning it. This screen is tight - no more gaps like the previous one and certainly a keeper - besides can't afford anymore downtime.

Anyone try out the MCE in Vista Ultimate?

I have a question for the people who already got their ThinkPads, how long does the shipping usually take?

Does everyone's order get stuck in custom inspection or something?

I have an order that's supposed to ship on the 13th (Friday), what are the chances that it will be here before the 18th (Wednesday)?

I'm leaving the country for a month in the morning of the 18th, it would be cool to have my X61s travel with me but if that's impossible I'm thinking about canceling the order.

Thanks

My original order date for an X61 tablet with XSGA screen was 6/22 with estimated ship of 7/25 but it shipped on 7/02 (and arrived 4 days later), about 3 weeks quicker than they anticipated. Sadly though I had to send it back because of a faulty motherboard and now I've reordered with a ship date of 8/4, let's hope they are quicker again.

Annoying they won't prioritize re-orders for faulty shipments but that's the way it is.

The X61s is the most difficult to get. I believe the quickest order-to-ship duration reported on the various forums is just under 4 weeks.

um, 4 days, I might not get it then if they don't include weekends, I guess I'll have to cancel if it doesn't ship by the 12th or something, but then if it does ship and get stuck somewhere then I'm sol.

Just to be clear my question was the actually shipping from date shipped to it arriving at your door

Lenovo CS is TERRIBLE, I ordered my X61T and two of them came and I was charged twice, I returned one with the RMA and I cannot get them to credit my card back. Its been over 14 days and still no response.

that'll probably happen to me as well, the worst part is that when they are delivered I won't even be here to take charge of the situation, I'm foreseeing many int'l calls just for the stupid mistakes they keeps on making

edit:
Would it be a good idea for me to call my credit card company and put a freeze on it so Lenovo can't charge it in the first place?

#338 Post by wpj » Tue Jul 10, 2007 10:20 pm

I just got one of the first x61 Tablets from IngramMicro WH.

and i have to say that i am very disappointed, for being a business machine there sure was a lot of ju nk installed on it. Vista Bus. Booted and took 812MB out of the factory gig. wow.

slow as a dog too, I uplled out the factory ram and poped in 2 x 2GB and much better.

Now my debat is staying with x86 or jumpng to x64 on there...

Seems like there's not too much activity going on these days in the forums regarding X61 tablets that haven't shipped yet. I feel like all of the discussion in the tabletpcreview forum, as well as here and in gottabemobile.com, is centered on people who have actually received their machines.

I want to hear from people who have ordered X61 tablets but have not gotten them yet. I ordered mine on June 28, and I think I'm going to call tomorrow to see if my ESD of July 31 is accurate or not.

My X61t is SXGA+, 2gb, ultrabase, 100 gb 7200rpm, if anyone cares.

I am not sure but I think the charge has to go through before you can dispute it not sure if you can freeze the card so lenovo cant charge it

Do you order from the same US-based website? I've been waiting for three-and-a-half weeks already... And the few reports of others having their X61s'es shipped were all suggesting 4-5 weeks after order date for the lucky ones...

The delays are bordering on the ridiculous. I placed my order for an x61s on 6-7-07. Ship date of 6-25-07. Now, it has been delayed until July 23rd. Lenovo sent me one email regarding a delay in shipping times, but since that email they have repeatedly moved back the estimated shipping date on my order form. What's going on? Too many orders? Parts supply problem?

Well I ordered the same day as you and had an ESD similar to yours and my orders shipped today...so don't be surprised if you get a shipment notification email very soon.

You guys have nothing like the ordering ESD that I got. I must have the longest one ever posted here or elsewhere.

I ordered mine on June 20 with ESD of Aug 13. Go figure that one!

x61tab, sxga+, 100-7,200, 4 gigs, thinkpad abgn, ultrabase, cingular wwan.

That's about 2 months projected, with no idea of any progress to date.

How is it that someone above ordered on June 22 and got an ESD of 7/25 yet shipped on 7/02?

nope, actually i ordered via my known dealer's website www.lapstars.de. as far as i know you can't order customized thinkpads in Germany up to date.

T61P 3rd party ram opportunities?

#348 Post by hansontax » Thu Jul 12, 2007 3:21 am

I'm just about to order a T61P. I want to end up with 4 GB ram, but wonder if Lenovo's price(below) can't be beat by third party ram merchants...

4 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz SODIMM Memory (2 DIMM) [add $845.00]

I've done a little initial research, and it appears I can get it for about half that price. Any potential drawback I need to watch for?

If you could recommend good vendors, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks in advance for your advice,
Dave

Actually 4 GB of ram can be had for roughly $230, which is by far the best way to go. There really is no drawback to it. Installation is very straight forward, and it has no effect (affect?) on your warranty.

I personally go with the cheapest of the name brands I can find (Crucial, Corsair, Kingston, Geil, Samsung, Patriot, PNY, etc). Most will have limited lifetime warranties, and really ram is very simple. Others like to beleive that it actually matters and will tell you their favorite brand and model, but really the Value models work great.

Just make sure it says something like "200-pin DDR2-667 PC2-5300".

(Btw I'm not sure if you noticed this or not, but your posting a T61p question in a x6x forum... either way, the answer is the same.)

My order just shipped today!

But it's so confusing right now.
I have 2 orders:

1: ordered 6/26, ESD 7/13
I called in and tried to cancel many times (because FatCash didn't come through), but the system is so messed up it's impossible to do. So in the end I gave up and called in to keep this order and canceled the other one since the 2nd one ships later, and I asked for a discount they give me $100 off.

2: ordered 6/27, ESD 7/16, shipped today!
I called in after I kept the other order and canceled this one, but it shipped early! So I called in today and canceled the 1st order that I got $100 dollars off, and they said they might be able to get that discount on this order, so let's see what happens.

Looks like I might be able to get it before I leave the country! But that 1st order might still come through and get shipped. Their system is so messed up!

Lenovo upgraded the regular ground shipping to express on my order and I assume they are doing the same on all the others.

I get the shipment notification email yesterday and it left China yesterday - it is out for delivery today already!

Well I removed the factory Gig added in 4G of kingston RAM and wiped the drive booted a recover console diskparted the hard drive up for bit locker and then installed x64

I only installed the lenovo tools I needed and non of the crap, 56 entried in the remove programs list.

anyhow x64 with 4G rocks. even with bit locker running on the drive it is very snappy.

So I just got the tracking info:

Apparently it went of out the warehouse on the 6th, that's pretty impressive for an order placed on the 27th, but it's stuck at customs for god knows how long

and why is my shipment require "further clearance"?

That's just goes to show what kind of a bad system they have at Lenovo...

on the UPS page it says the delivery date is supposed to be tomorrow, wonder if that's true. Right now I'm pretty excited
