I don't understand why when calling their sales phone line it takes 20 minutes to half an hour to get through to someone. Surely they would have the sense to put have enough lines and sales people that potential customers (as well as actual customers waiting for machines) won't get frustrated and migrate to a competing manufacturer? It is really strange..... (as well as frustrating, annoying, maddening, etc)
I've waited for over an hour once. Add to the fact that no one ever gets back to you, and they have absolutely NO information as to the status of your order. They're lucky that they have great products.noetus wrote:I don't understand why when calling their sales phone line it takes 20 minutes to half an hour to get through to someone. Ordered X61s on 5/31, delivered 7/31
I originally ordered my X61 Tablet with sxga+ screen on June 22nd, and it shipped on July 2nd, arriving July 9th, but within 12 hours the system board had totally failed and I sent it back and reordered on July 10th. The ship date was August 10th for the reordered X61t, which was yesterday... no sign of it shipping. This afternoon I wasted 4 hours, 2 minutes, and 21 seconds on hold on a single call to Lenovo customer service waiting for someone to answer (I checked my mobile phone log, and that was what it told me - is this a record?). Tonight I get an email from them with a re-scheduled ship date of September 12th.
ARGH!
This is truly a tale of woe. Does anyone pity me ??

For some consolation (please), has anyone had any luck trying to get a discount from Lenovo for such an experience? (I dread getting back on the phone to customer service, however.)

model: x61t w/ multiview-multitouch, 4 cell, 1Gb(1 Dimm) RAM, 80gb(5400rpm) hd, intel turbo mem, vista business (although i'll dual boot into linux)
Ordered: 2007.08.04
Original ESD: 2007.08.23
Shipped: today, 2007.08.13 (w/ 2 day shipping, so it should get here the 15th or so)
This totally made my day because I'm leaving the country on the 21st for a month, and when I saw the original ESD I thought that I wouldn't be able to bring it with me. Yay for shipping early

first thinkpad: x61t
So I contacted Lenovo about the very long time they are taking to complete my order (which was a replacement order for a X61 tablet that died within 24 hours of delivery) - see post above - and this is what they said:
"Thank you for contacting Lenovo, the makers of ThinkPad and ThinkCentre products!
We have received your email regarding your order xxxxxx.
We have submitted your order to two places for assistance: to our supply team to try and expedite the order via priority in parts allocation and configuration, and to our management staff to see if we can get some compensation for the extended wait.
Lenovo has built a decades old reputation on excellent customer service with excellent products. Your service experience to this point is not one we wish to duplicate. We appreciate your patience and will do all we can to have your ThinkPad delivered to you as quickly as possible.
If you have further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at 1-866-42-THINK (84465) option number 2,
We will be happy to assist at that time.
Once again thank you for contacting Lenovo.
***Please reply to this e-mail for further assistance.***"
So at least they are trying to do something about the problems with my order, which makes me feel much better (and it is likely that the delay is not their fault, but a problem with their suppliers, e.g. of the SXGA+ screens).
My fading hope in Lenovo customer service has returned, at least for the meantime....

Lucky son of a gun. I ordered mine on 8/1 and my ESD is 8/22 and still in process...goodmami wrote:model: x61t w/ multiview-multitouch, 4 cell, 1Gb(1 Dimm) RAM, 80gb(5400rpm) hd, intel turbo mem, vista business (although i'll dual boot into linux)

X61s
Order date: 8/1
ESD: 8/22
Just received a very explanatory and concise e-mail from Lenovo stating:
Ah, very helpful, thanks Lenovo! 1 - 30 days is very specific. I appreciate it.Dear Customer
We apologize, but we are unable to ship one or more items on your order but anticipate shipment within 1 to 30 days of this notification.
This is ridiculous considering that others who ordered the same machine 1 day before me had theirs shipping within 6 days.
I guess on 8/23 I'll be on the phone and hopefully getting $100 back to use on my self RAM upgrade.

Order Date: 8/2
ESD: 8/21 (today)
ESD changed to 8/23 this morning.
From other peoples past experiences... do they generally stick to the new ESDs? or is it usually just some bogus delay that continues to get the SD pushed back multiple times?
Im still hopefull Ill have my new thinkpad some time next week.

I don't want to disappoint you, but it is likely it won't ship on the ESD. Myself and a number of other people have ordered one on 8/1 and our ESD was pushed back to 9/10 (I think they use a generic ESD calculated from your purchase date which is not reflective of their factory conditions). So if Lenovo really does manufacture their machines in a queue (first come first serve) you probably won't get yours for a while.
However, I have seen people who ordered their and it was shipped 6 days later - so who knows! Their ESD system is so broken.

Finally, my order status says something new after saying "In progress" for 15 days:

It's there for customs. It shouldn't take more than 24 hours to go through.ed wrote:Just checked the status on UPS site, it is in U.S. now, but what the hell does "BEING HELD BY BROKERAGE" mean? Has anyone seen this before?
LOUISVILLE, KY, US 08/28/2007 4:03 P.M. THE SHIPMENT IS BEING HELD BY BROKERAGE FOR REASONS BEYOND UPS' CONTROL
Apparently this is because Lenovo routinely screws up their customs paperwork... thus all the packages in the shipment with screwed up paperwork are delayed until Lenovo resubmits the papers without errors in them.
Fingers Crossed that it gets fixed tonight... if the shipment sits in holding for too long they will start to access fines on Lenovo as well as UPS so both companies involved have reasonable incentive to get this fixed ASAP.
I hope for all of us that the wait wont continue to drag out... Im a little extra [censored] off that I paid for 2nd day shipping when a Lenovo screw up could potentially make it take up to a week more.
Perhaps I can call and get something out of it but Id rather just have my x61s.
