Hi:
My wife wants me to set her up with a thinkpad mini-dock, external monitor & keyboard for her T42. However her machine that was issued to her from her work has a fingerprint reader that she uses to log-in to Windows.
What happens to her machine if it is put into a mini-dock with the lid closed and powered-up with the power button on the mini-dock? Will she need to open the lid every time in order to use the fingerprint reader to log-in? Or can the fingerprint reader be avoided when the lid is closed and the machine docked?
Or alternatively, do I need to get her an external keyboard with built-in fingerprint reader like the microsoft models?
I'm sure some of you must be dealing with this issue. I don't want to order stuff off ebay until I know what I need.
Thanks!

yes, I have a 19" Princeton LDC display with built in speakers that will be the primary monitor on her desk.
I was going to install the mini-dock in the back corner of the desk where all the cable connections will be easy and out of the way and then use a wireless keyboard and mouse. The idea is for her to just come home, pop the T42 into the dock and fire it up using the external monitor and keyboard and use it like a desktop machine when she is in the home office.
If she will need to open the lid every time to log-in that will sort of defeat the purpose of the setup.
