Warranty Repair Problem

#1 Post by jsteele » Fri Aug 11, 2006 10:11 am

I sent a T40 in for EZServ warrany service last week. The unit rauns fine with ONE exception: if I plug a USB 2 device in it complains that it would work faster if I plugged it into a USB 2 port. I've seen this before on another T40 and it was a systemboard problem.

Well, now I've received a call telling me that the problem is a) due to a liquid spill in the unit; b) the unit does not power up at all. They want $725 to replace the systemboard. I have only two questions with this: 1) the unit has been in my persona and exclusive possession since the day I bought it and I have never spilled anything in it! and 2) when I sent it to them it was working perfectly in all respects save the USB problem --- now they tell me it doesn't power up at all.

My options are pay the $725 or return the unit unrepaired. So if I don't shell out the $725 I get a dead T40 in exchange for my working unit ---- doesn't sound like much of a deal to me.

I've discussed it with them and they are going to request some digial pictures and send them to me to prove the liquid spill! I'm sure they can find a unit with a liquid spill but it won't be mine --- especially since mine was working fine when it went into them!

search the forum. someone had a similar case and the thread talked about how to escalate your situation to the higher-ups.
