15" more expensive than 14". What gives?
I'm looking into the possibility of buying a new T42. Using the California community college discount, the 15" UXGA t42P (2379ezu) is nearly $400 cheaper than the 14" t42 (2373bzu). Both have FireGL and 1.8dothan processors. When I outfit them with 60gb 7200rpm hard drives and the optional ultrabay battery, the difference in price drops by about $150. I'm thoroughly confused and when I call IBM I never seem to be able to talk to a person. Can anyone explain what is going on? I'd like the 14" screen, but there is no way that I'm going to pay more money to receive less!

I was going to make that argument as well, but from the perspective of the IBM pricing scheme, I think it's probably more about certain configurations getting more discounts than others due to specials, express models, specific config for the school, etc.johnson5001 wrote:Well, doesn't portability cost money? If you really want to get what you paid for, you should get a desktop with 17" monitor. That's definitely going to be cheaper than the laptop.
Guess what , sometime the IBM URl give you incorrect info like bluetooth info!!
bluetooth mentioned in abstract, but not in description detail.

The 14 inch one has Integrated Bluetooth wireless (not from mini-pci), but the 15 inch one does not!!
I already confirm this with IBM internal docs!!
If I were you, I will get the 2379-EZU because bluetooth can upgradeable , but 15 inch LCD with 1600x1200 screen is not easy upgradeable by end user ^_^,
but please remember running 1600x1200 with only 15 inch may be too hard to view for some user ^_^
If you /your friend has a PCwith a 16/17 inch CRT monitor, try to set to 1600x1200 see if u like it before make your final statment.
