Minor LCD blemish with X60s

#1 Post by ritou » Fri Aug 11, 2006 1:45 pm

I have been using my X60s for several months. Everything is perfect except that there is a small blemish on the LCD. It is NOT a bad pixel, but a small area that is not as bright as other part of the screen. The blemish is a circle area with the diameter of about 1cm. The problem is minor and is perceivable only when I focus my eye on it. Any comments or similar phenominon?

What is the location of this area of concern? Has it existed since the first day you took it out of the box and set it up? Does it look the same with every color background or is it more noticeable depending on the color behind it?

Is it at the corresponding position of trace point?
It seems that the diameter of trace point is 1 cm.

It is quite possible that it is a dim spot on the LCD screen. I have seen a few of these on laptop LCDs, not too much to worry about...except if it gets bigger that is. ;) :)

She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

I have seen LCDs with "Brightspots". Isn't variances in the light refraction caused by blemishes in the sheet of plastic that the light is refreacted down (or possibly on the backing sheet behind it)?

FEEL THE BURN! From the bottom of that particular laptop... right in the bawsack! eek

Here in India a week ago a friend of mine got a similar problem on the screen of his R52 -- and had the entire screen replaced under warranty just 2 days prior to its expiry.

Kudos to IBM/Lenovo support, which is reliable even in India.
