Oops, missed a few screws..

#1 Post by dsigma6 » Fri Aug 11, 2006 6:05 pm

Has anyone else taken a Thinkpad apart and after assembling it again, found they couldn't find a place for some screws? Yea? Well I have 12 extra after taking the 570 apart.

DOH.

Just take it apart and reasemble as many times as you need until you eventually end up usal all the screws.

I'm just stalling for now. i forgot i wrote that message. it's quite a way to learn to assemble, rather than do it just for kicks.

I was about to call the whole ordeal we all go through from time to time with the screws being leftover or in short supply after taking something apart then tryingto figure out what to do with them "the screw game" but then I realized just how wrong that sounded.

Situations such as this are just another reason the hardware maintenance manuals are very nice to have.

Actually, when I took apart my T22 I found out that I was lacking certain screws (the ones that secure the the DVD drive and the Hard drive).

I found some replacements for the hard drive screws at a local true value hardware store. Don't waste your time looking at the home depot.

obviously they put all the screws in there for a reason- but it seems just as sturdy with a few missing...however i am still going to replace them all to original condition.
