Battery MaxiMiser is driving me CRAZY! HELP
Battery MaxiMiser is driving me CRAZY! HELP
Hi,
I originally posted this in ThinkPad T Series forum but nobody could help me. So here I go again:
When I bought my T41p from Bill I use to get Battery Maximiser Gauge on my Taskbar even after reboot but now it does not work properly any more.
When I run Battery MaxiMiser Wizard> check Show Battery Maximiser Gauge on Taskbar or from ThinkPad Configuration utility Option>Customize>Add Battery MaxiMiser Gauge on Task Bar it shows on my Taskbar. But when I reboot my computer it no longer shows, it gets check off from show option, so if I want it I have to go through Battery MaxiMiser Wizard or ThinkPad Configuration utility again. This happens each time I reboot my T41P.
I uninstalled the Battery MaxiMiser Wizard and ThinkPad Configuration utility and IBM power management driver from IBM Software Installer window and Add/Remove several times and reinstalled the latest driver for all of them (I had the latest drivers before anyway) still no joy.
OK the power management keeps the right profile and I KNOW its not the end of the world but I like to get it back again after reboot instead of running the Battery Maximiser (or ThinkPad Configuration utility) each time I want it.
Its really really irritating and I would appreciate any advice/help on this.

You might want to look at this as well:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.as ... duct=winxp
But I think the problem might be that you first need to go through Thinkpad Configuration/power management. Then look at the power meter tab (or open Battery Maximizer Wizard by pressing the CORRECT one of the two battery-related icons, and configure that way).

Sounds for me like a Windows XP taskbar bug. I have sometimes the case that the quick launch icons disapear after reboot, but you never know why and when. So perhaps a fresh install or recovery could solve your problem.
T40p 2373-g1g: 1.6 GHz, 1536 MB RAM, 160 GB @ 5400 rpm drive, 64 MB Video, IBM a/b/g II, CD-RW/DVD Combo II, M10 Fan, Ubuntu 8.04
The gauge window is created by IBM's PWRMONIT.DLL I believe - maybe someone can verify this for you - but I'm not sure if some disabled service is preventing it from loading. You could try to turn them all on - that might be the best way to ascertain if this is the issue. Keep tabs on your current service settings just in case you need to go back your current configuration.
Something that might work... if the mode of being on the taskbar or not isn't saved on a file... it just might be in the registry. So you might wanna try running "regedit" and search for Battery Maximzer or some other combo/uncombo
and then just deleting those keys/registers/whatever you wanna call them. Of course save your registery first before you try.
FS: New SEALED Extended Battery for X40
Solved !!!
First thanks to ibmuser for his interest in my problem.
The Culprit was 'StartUp Manager" http://www.startupmgr.com/
If the program is in startup mode itself it would STOP the Battery Maximiser Gauge on Taskbar even though I had the Battery Maximiser checked for startup!
Startup Manager is a good program for stopping a lot of unnecessary programs to startup in your window but obviously it doesn't work with Battery Maximiser even if you tell the program its OK for it to be in the startup folder.
The weird thing is I had stopped the 'StartUp Manager' in five previous attempt and it did not make any difference but this time it did!
I do not know why and don't want to know since its working now.
Any way thanks to people who tried to help me.
