I would take the T42 for SXGA+ alone.

I'm not sure I see the point of doing all that work. Both could fetch decent dough on evilbay and with that dough one could buy exactly what they wanted. Unless the tinkering is more the point than the using I guess.

I can swap the LCD and Optical Drive and then I have to send one back to the company support.
