TP 760XD locked HDD

#1 Post by Zou » Mon Aug 14, 2006 6:17 am

Hi

i've a prob with my TP760XD.

Two month ago I've found my old TP760XD and i've decided to re-use it. I remeber the bootup password because I offent use it but I can't remember the supervisor password :( . This not a real prob beacause I can use it without knowing the supervisor password.

The real prob is that i've put a bigger 2.5 HDD (Hitachi 20 Go) and on the first boot the thinkpad had loked it without ask me anything ! Now I can't use the 20Go HDD on any other computer :x

And since the hdd is locked I can't install Win98 because all bootdisk i've tried cannot load when the HDD is formated and locked. I've try win98 bootdisk, Norton Ghost bootdisk, TP recovery disk,... . The only successfull bootdisk is the win2000 bootdisks. So I can only install win2000. But with win2k the PCMCIA Cardbus work only with 16bit cardbus (no 32 bit) and I find no driver for audio and video Device :(

Now how can I unlock my HDD without knowing the supervisor password? Is anybody know what's the master password that the TP use to lock the HDD?

Thx for your help
