Thinkpad T43 - Creating Restore / Media Disks

Several times, I've tried to create the windows and other disks using create recovery media option, each time i run it i get an error and it wont create the disks.

I want to replace my hard drive with a 7200 rpm one and id like to have a set of the software on hand (yes i know i can do disc cloning)
