Yesterday I received my 100GB 7K100: HTS721010G9AT00.

Installed no problem on my T41p. Is somewhat noisier than the 5400rpm hitachi It originally had.

The only complaint of my new drive is that I can hear a constant clicking from the disk, almost all the time. Is this OK ?

I always liked Seagate as they're quieter. I have owned the 7K60, 7K100 and I recently bought a 7200.1 100GB as an external drive. Bad mistake, as the heat it gives off doesn't cope in the 2.5" case without a fan. The Hitachi had no problem. Seagate comes up with errors after a few hours, making it basically useless. Thanks Seagate! I've RMAd it anyway, but now I'm without a drive. As soon as I get it back I'm eBaying it.

The Hitachi gives off LESS HEAT!! Check out the figures!!

My 7K100 does make ticking (?) noises when it seeks -- but it is near-inaudible on mine. I had to hold my X31 next to my ear to hear the sounds. 8)
