WTB - 2nd PATA HDD Adapter for UltraBay Slim

#1 Post by fbrdphreak » Mon Aug 14, 2006 8:30 pm

Anyone suggest the best place to get one of these? I've found several for about $50 and I think the best I found on eBay is like $38 shipped. Can anyone do any better? :)
Have used just about every ThinkPad since the T42 days...

Anyone use any mirroring software between dual drives?

Otherwise, I'll just pickup a 160gb drive and toss the 80 into the other slot.

What does Rapid Recovery get for a compression ratio typically? seems ~40% Or should I just use ghost instead?

I got a used genuine ibm one for $28 at ebay. If you don't mind using an aftermarket one, I've seen some going for $25 new at ebay.

It's overpriced. But then being able to have two hard drives in a laptop is a god sent feature.

The adapter is built fairly well. I feel $50 is a fair price for what it is. I got mine new for $38 either on eBay or hear in the classifieds on their forum - I forget which it was.

It is described in detail on http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... IGR-4JW4XW
Comes with a backup utility disk. I never used the disk that came with mine.
Although the page says that the product won't be available after April 2006 (wtf?) it is available on direct sale here for $61.50. Ouch! You might also try big distributors like CDW they may have a better deal on a factory fresh unit.
