WTB: SL4CC Intel PIII 850MHz CPU

#1 Post by KristianJ » Tue Aug 15, 2006 3:43 am

Thought I might post here just in case I can get a response, even though it's not IBM-based. Hope that's okay...since people have sold non-IBM stuff I though it should be fine to cast a WTB into the waters :)

I have come into possession of a barebones Toshiba Satellite 1800 that only has the LCD, motherboard, modem and battery. According to the person who gave it to me, those components are in working order.

I have access to some of the things I'll need to get this machine up and running, but am looking for a hard drive caddy, CD or DVD-ROM, heatsink/fan assembly and CPU (which according to specs I've found was a 850mHz PIII). I'm looking through Marketplace for ads for T21/22 CPUs, since it looks like those should be compatible with this laptop.

Please PM me if you can help out. I know my chances are next to none, but never hurt to ask  Please remember that I'm in Australia if/when you offer me an item, and I can pay through PayPal.

TIA :) :)

I've managed to source a heatsink/fan and caddy...so all I need is the optical drive. Also if anyone has some spare 128 or 256MB PC-100 SDRAM to spare, please PM me. :)

bump...only concentrating on the RAM now, although I'd love to deal with someone who has the DVD-ROM drive that I need.

Have you tried looking a Kahlon. Kahlon has reasonable prices and they offer a life time warranty and a excellent return policy. eBay may be cheaper but you never really know what you are going to end up with.

I hope that this helps,

Bump - I'm hopeful I can get a better deal here than via Kahlon (mainly in terms of shipping), so holding out for the next couple of days.

Bump - have changed thread title to state what CPU model I need, since I'm still on the lookout for the right one and only just found what I actually need.

I have some older CPUs lying around, I'll check them when I get home tonight.

But when shipping to Australia is just as much as the CPU itself, it becomes less appealing, unfortunately. Thanks for your response though...I have been keeping an eye on eBay. :)

No - I need a Socket 370 CPU according to what I've been looking at. I just checked on eBay and the SL4ZJ looks like the SL53L that I bought on eBay a week or 2 ago only to find it wasn't the right size.
