Create Recovery Media

#1 Post by Nick Y » Tue Aug 15, 2006 10:51 am

I recently installed the upgrade of R&R (v3.10.0022.00) and it advised me to create a new set of recovery media. Not having 5 or 6 spare CDs, I waited until I had enough -or so I thought.

Ran 'Create Recovery Media' today and it only needed one CD, called 'R&R Start Up'.

Is this correct? I am used to having to burn loads of CDs and they never tell you how many you will need at the start! When it had finished th application simply closed, without anything to say that that was that... I sat here for a while waiting for the 'Now place another blank CD in the tray...'

(Previous version of R&R was 3.10, but I forget the rest of the version number.)

TIA,

Nick

That is correct. Only one CD required to burn the Recovery Media. You can make as many copies of that as you like. OTOH, you can make only one copy of the Product Recovery Disc set (about 7 CD's or 1 CD and 1 DVD) until you do a restore to Factory Contents.

To boot into the Rescue and Recovery workspace where you can:
1. Possibly retrieve important files from a hard drive that won't boot.
2. Restore a Rescue and Recovery Backup to a new hard drive, or to a corrupted hard drive that won't boot into the service partition.
3. Possibly restore factory contents from a hard drive with a service partition that won't boot.
4. Access the internet from the Rescue and Recovery workspace.

At least this is what I see the Rescue Media CD can be used for.
