Motorola H500 + Windows XP (sp2) + IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad T60?!

#1 Post by shiphen » Tue Aug 15, 2006 1:32 pm

Hi

I can't get my bluetooth headset (Motorola H500) to talk to my Thinkpad T60.
Any idea why?

My mobile phone (Sony Ericsson P910i) can see the headset...
...And my T60 can see the mobile phone!

So how can I get my headset to connect to my Thinkpad T60?

(I am wanting to set my PC up to do Skipe so that I can do VO I/P...)

I managed to successfully install "Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software for Windows XP" (file 7fba06ww.exe)... but when I try and scan for BlueTooth devices it cant see the Headset!

- Any thoughts?

Two thoughts...

First, find the manual for the headset. There is usually some procedure you have to go through to make it show up where your computer can see it.

Second, not all headsets work with computers, even if they work fine with phones, just so you know.

You did enable discovery mode on the headset before scanning?

I don't have the H500 yet but I've been using several Motorola Bluetooth headsets with various BT dongles and my R52's internal BT without any problems. Was just about to buy the H500 this weekend...

It took a little bit of effort for me to pair an H700 Motorola Bluetooth Headset to my T43...but it isn't quite as easy as pairing the Thinkpad with a Cell phone. I would take a look at the manual and then do a check to see what services are supported by the headset. :)

Widcomm or IBM software for Bluetooth (with Motorola H500)

#5 Post by shiphen » Fri Aug 25, 2006 7:55 am

Okay I've managed to get the Motorola H500 headset working EVENTUALLY but the "audio in" (i.e. the sound from my microphone toward the other person) sounds like a nest of wild bees! It has this high pitched humming noise that should be there. The headset does NOT do that noise when used with my mobile phone, so it must be something to do with the Bluetooth setup software from IBM...

I am toying with the idea of downloading WidComm instead (as recommended by Motorola). Is this a good idea?
