WTB: T23 (2647-8MU) XP Pro recovery discs

#1 Post by pianowizard » Wed Aug 16, 2006 8:18 pm

Hi guys,

I just bought an awesome T23 off eBay; the model is 2647-8MU. It has a WinXP Pro COA sticker on the bottom, but somehow my WinXP Pro CD from work doesn't accept this code (does anyone know why?). I could just use the code licensed to my institution, but I would prefer to use the one on the sticker. So, I guess the easiest way to do that is to get the original recovery discs. Does anyone have those, and would you burn a copy for me? I will reimburse you, of course. Thanks in advance!
Microsoft Surface 3 (Atom x7-Z8700 / 4GB / 128GB / LTE)
Dell OptiPlex 9010 SFF (Core i3-3220 / 8GB / 8TB); HP 8300 Elite minitower (Core i7-3770 / 16GB / 9.25TB)
Acer T272HUL; Crossover 404K; Dell 3008WFP, U2715H, U2711, P2416D; Monoprice 10734; QNIX QHD2410R; Seiki Pro SM40UNP

The code on the bottom won't work with your disks, because the code on the bottom is only for the IBM/Lenovo systems. There are actually several threads on this, here in the forum.

EDIT: With the recovery disks, you won't even have to key in the code. The disks will automatically detect that you are loading the OS onto a Thinkpad.

PM Sent re: copies of the disks.
