Elevated Key

#1 Post by whoisjohngalt » Wed Aug 16, 2006 10:07 pm

I've had my x60s for about 2-3 weeks now, and the spacebar seems to be slightly elevated, especially on the left side. I can see the metal from a much higher angle than the other keys in the row. Is this something I should be concerned about or take it in to a technician? Will they be able to do anything for me? or would it have to be shipped out to be taken care of?

It's not a horrible deal, but I'm just afraid that exam time will roll around and my spacebar will fall off... now THAT would be a horrible thing.

heya. now that you mention it, it does seem a little elevated on the left side. Thinking about how i type, i just assume its because its always my right thumb thats hitting the spacebar, so the left side will feel left out.

from my experience, with all other models of TPs, this doesnt really pose any threat as TP keyboards are generally stable.

one good thing though, had an incident before with a T20, in which my son played with the keys and some keys were removed. Just had it replaced and they changed the whole keyboard with no questions asked.

hope this helps...

I never noticed it before, but my spacebar is elevated as well. This must be in the design. My spacebar, however, is even (on side is not higher than the other).

It must be the design. My spacebar also seems a bit elevated but it has never bothered me.

well you've all put my mind to rest at least! glad to know it's common... it's something you don't really notice until you look closely.

I mean exactly what I said in the parentheses: it's even in that one side is not higher than the other. The spacebar is elevated in that I can see under it more than the other keys.

That was one of the first things I noticed when I opened my X60s, but Im kind of anal about that kind of stuff. This is normal though, had the same thing on my T21 and T43.
