Hi, I know there are a lot of threads talking about this but i really mess up, spending many hours without finding a clue.
The one is T43 2668. My BIOS is latest. The harddisk should be 60G but Windows always shows 56G, including diskpart, computer management. Linux(ubuntu) shows 56G, too. One exception is fdisk actually shows (60G) but the hidden partition is not there and the extra size is mistakenly speard over those partitions i created.
These always happen no matter i set "secure" "normal" or "disable".
And the F11, it does not work as I once modify MBR by grub and have no way back. I try bmgr32 with the "bootmgr.bin" in the same directory. The command output shows it is an IBM MBR. But it does not found the "sp". (Actually i don't know what it is talking about). After reboot i can see f11 notice but I get hang both when i press it or not, without a notice.
Also I tried "fixmbr" to let xp rule the MBR but it does not help.
I am very frustrated since recovery disks refuse to work due to some other silly problem. And an instruction sheat threats me that recovery disks are going to delete all my partitions. So I hope to recovery by predesktop area. But it is totally hidden. Can any one help?
Hidden Predesktop area is totally Hidden
To begin with, it has been my experience that to see the Service Partition in Windows, you have to go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Storage > Disk Management.
You can try the following to be able to boot into the Rescue and Recovery workspace to restore factory contents. This assumes the Service Partition is intact and only the boot sector is messed up. You'll need a floppy drive for the following. Some users have been able to make a bootable CD or USB key. I am unfamiliar with that procedure, so you will have to search the forums to find how to do that.
