German to Spanish localization (T42p)

#1 Post by syrou » Fri Aug 18, 2006 10:47 am

Hello everybody!

Tired of burning laptops  , I have decided to change my Dell Latitude D610 with a T42p I won in eBay.

The problem that I face now is that the laptop comes with German localization, and I'm from Spain. I know, it has been talked hundreds of time, and IBM refuse to send different language Recovery CDs.

My question is if some kind person could send/sell me Spanish recovery CDs so I can localize it to Spanish?

Thanks.

Not sure why you need the CD's; can't you just change the language settings in XP? And possibly buy a new keyboard?

Well, changing the keyboard is one of the phases of the localization. Unfortunately, SW part isn't as easy. OEM XP that comes with IBM recovery disks doesn't seem to be MUI capable, and anyway, even if it was, it wouldn't be too stable when doing OS updates.
