Measuring Gravity with Liquid Nitrogen

#1 Post by christopher_wolf » Fri Aug 18, 2006 3:34 pm

Came across this, luckily, as an explanation for certain things I noticed about a stairwell in Birge hall...

...Yeah, I bet the College of Chemistry will do something to try and top this in about a week or so.

funny thing is, i didnt see who wrote this when i clicked on it. i thought, "liquid nitrogen?"...i bet christopher wrote that...lo and behold!

i can't focus on the screen for more than 3 seconds without getting dizzy, which doesn't help the expansion of your post, but i did see a dent in a wall! plus i just finished up reading the fiasco that is draco's experience with a stolen laptop. time to crash.

it is a wonder to me how so MANY reach the age of consent alive and able to do something about it when another party consents..

Believe me, there are times that what you see (and this goes for most places) makes you think "How the hell can that person figure out how to stay alive from day to day?" Much less wondering how they manage to breath and not mess up.

This is, of course, until you realize that "survival" is done pretty well in biological systems; as an example, breathing, heatbeat, and other basic functions are controlled and regulated automatically, mostly by the ANS.

Unfortuanately, there is no basic nervous system subset for "not screwing up in the lab" or "don't transport a huge dewar up a staircase" or even "start bunsen burner without letting methane buildup for 5 minutes whilst talking to friends." :D
