CPU for T42 2373-TG7

#1 Post by rscosworth » Sat Aug 19, 2006 2:23 am

Guys

My colleague has just recieved a new t60,

even though it is a base spec, with only dvd and no wifi it still has a lovely core duo 1.83 CPU......

what is the fastest i can take my t42 to, and what is the stepping/model number of this cpu.

also, how much ram can i add?

cheers

You can have 2GB off memory in the T42 the same for most laptops

And you can have an Pentium-M (Dothan core) 2.16GHz CPU which is the flagship off the Dothan family of CPUs.
You can buy it on ebay I would think but it aint cheap.
Best upgrade you can do is raise the Ram too 1,5GB or 2GB and get an faster harddrive (7200RPM Hitachi or Seagate) that is if you dont already have one.
You will find that an faster harddrive and more Ram gives your machine much more speed boost than an faster CPU.

Cheers..
