My G41 came with a 64MB nVidia Go5200 video card.
I purchased a 128MB nVidia Go5200 video card.
When I swap out the 64MB card and install the 128MB card, the G41 doesn't even boot (the fans stop, there's no hard disk drive activity, there's no video from either the VGA output or the LCD).
When I re-install the 64MB card everything is fine.
This has happened on two different 128MB cards from the same supplier.
I read (in the G40/G41 Hardware Manual) that there is a configuration EEPROM which holds the serial numbers of all the major FRUs. I have the ThinkPad Hardware Maintenance Diskette v1.69, and there doesn't seem to be anything there that can help. Do I need to edit the contents of the configuration EEPROM to make the 128MB nVidia card work?
