Hi all, new here.
Looks like the place to be if you own a ThinkPad!
I have a TP 390e that I love. It's a backup/vacation puter...
The battery has gotten so bad that I have to plug it in everywhere I go, which leads to the subject line above. I was prompted by Win98se: The last few times your computer went into standby mode, it never recovered. Would you like to stop putting the computer into standby when you close the top? (or something like that).
Didn't think much about it at the moment so I pushed the "OK" button.. But now I'm thinking about it lots. I can no longer get this thing to go into standby or hibernate mode at all! As a backup, if the other computer is being used by my wife or kids, I could just flip open the top and 20 secs later have another computer ready to access the internet, now I gotta wait for a full boot...
After all the wining above, I have to ask the question: How do I get my hibernate back?
Tried changing every setting in control panel/power management properties, including creating a hibernation file, also tried changing all these settings in setup at boot.
In win98se, hitting fn+f2, I get the fuel gauge pop up and then if I select to hibernate or if I select to standby, windows will tell me it's about to do that, but after hitting the "ok" button, there is only a very quick flash of the "Preparing to hibernate" box then it's gone, and doesn't begin to hibernate. Won't do anything when you shut the lid either, still runs as if the lid was open, but I think the display shuts off.
Any help on this will greatly be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike
