SOLD 17" Gateway M675 2.8Ghz 1GB, 60GB, Wi-Fi, ATI 9700

#1 Post by Dizzy149 » Sat Aug 19, 2006 9:40 pm

I am selling my Gateway M675 laptop. I bought this laptop for gaming, and I played World of Warcraft, Fable, Dungeon Siege II, Dungeons & Dragons Online, Eve Online, and several others.
I decided to go back to school, and I'm looking for something quite a bit smaller (12"-13" range).

When I purchased this laptop, I special ordered several items.
First off, it has a 17" Ultrabright Screen with 1680x1050 max resolution. Standard is the 1440x900 screen that I've seen on every other eBay listing for a M675. (See screenshot)
Secondly is the video card. I opted for the ATI Radeon Mobile 9700 with 128MB. Standard for the M675 is a 9600 with only 64MB. (See screenshot)
I also doubled the system RAM to give me a GIG of RAM, and had Windows XP Pro on it instead of XP Home. (See screenshot)
The screen, video card and RAM really helped with the gaming. Everything looks absolutely beautiful on this screen!!

The laptop is under warranty until 8/26/2007 through Gateway (see screenshot), and I will happily transfer ownership and the warranty until completion of payment.

This laptop has been my baby for the past two years. I took better care of this laptop than I have my wife (seriously, ask her, she'll tell you). There are no dead pixels on the screen. On several keys I have worn a smooth spot on them from use. I tried to take a picture, but it's so hard to tell in person let alone with a camera. (See pics) To be honest, the only flaw with the entire thing is a strange mark on the lid. About a year ago the motherboard died and I sent it in for repair. When I got it back it had this mark on it. Needless to say, I was beyond upset... If you run your hand over it you can tell it is not a scratch. (See pics) But, aside from that, this laptop is beautiful.
I have the system restore/driver CD and WinXP Pro CD that came with the machine and you will get those. You will also get the A/C power adapter.
I will do a clean restore from the CD before shipping, and include MS Office 2003, Photoshop CS and Acrobat 7.0 but you will not get CDs for those 3 programs.

Below you will find the basic info for the machine that the Gateway config program gave me.

As far as payment goes, I will under *NO* circumstances accept PayPal. I'm sorry, been burned too many times, and I can't afford to lose my laptop and hundreds of dollars to some PayPal fraud scam. Read up on www dot nopaypal dot com and see for yourself!!!
For both of our protection I suggest a money order or cashier's check sent via certified mail. This way you know when I have gotten it, and you can track and prove that it has been cashed.
I will also take personal checks, but the laptop will not be sent for 7 days after cashing to ensure the funds clear... Honestly, I'd prefer the cashier's check so we both aren't waiting.
If you happen to be in the Columbus, Ohio area, I'd be more than happy to meet you, otherwise, it will be sent via 2 or 3 day Fed-Ex/UPS, well packed in a huge laptop shipping box with tons of foam (it's the box I recieved from Gateway to ship it to them in for repair).

Please email me with any questions, I'd be happy to answer anything.

What happened to your site? What was your business? selling DVDs?

For ur gateway, it might seem odd that you are selling non-thinkpad stuff here. Plus, that price is nearly a new thinkpad T60. So I really suspect that you may sell it here.

Well, not exactly 700, but around 900. if you deduct he 3 year warranty (although you cannot), it is around $800. Pretty close to 700, right?
I ran an eBay biz selling DVDs. I made a rant about eBay PayPal in another thread. I was hit with $10k in PayPal fraud and was forced to shut down.

The forum said it was for more than just Thinkpad stuff so I thought I'd give it a try. Who knows someone may want a nice 17" Gateway to game on or something.

As for the T60, most I've seen are $1400+ and if you can't subtract the warranty, then there's no point in pricing it without it...

1) I have a few good contacts and I can't get a T60 with nice specs (or any specs actually) for anything near $700, warranty or not. Besides, and I might be wrong, but I sincerely doubt anyone interested in this type/class of laptop with a 17" wide-screen is sitting around in their PJ's right now debating if they should by THIS or a 14" XGA T60 with a 4:3 ratio screen. I'm intrigued by this monster but have no desire for any T60.

2) People sell whatever they want here. As far as I know it's open to all members to buy and sell their wares, not just Thinkpads. Suspicion written down without good reason isn't fair, but if a member KNOWS something that might save another some grief (and can support their claim) I'm all for it.

3) Lastly, the business this seller had been in has no bearing on this sale as he was just stating some background. Heck the developer I bought my house from made his fortune as an owner of houses of prostitution throughout Europe. It was a nice house. I bought it. End of story.

Just my opinion. Play nice.

Exactly, well said. Every time I see someone "crap on a thread" it's annoying. Very relevant comments or help are OK but wild speculation and paranoia should be in the form of a PM to a moderator or admin.

Posting comments of no relevance keeps that thread on top of others which is definately going to get it locked.

Nice gaming laptop Dizzy, I hope someone grabs it up at that price.

Besides, with a 2.8GHz P$ in it, when the gaming slows down you can always flip it over and fry up some burgers on the bottom!

Any Forum member is welcome to sell whatever computer or computer parts they want to here, it's not just for Thinkpads.

Heck, one member has attempted to sell his Aston-Martin Lagonda here!

BP, I understand your point, I always welcome new users and didnot want to play nasty or something. It is againest my life style.

Plus, I think it is OK to ask question unrelated to a sale. If it is against the forum policy, I will raise that questions with PM. Also, I think the experience from our new members might shed some light for new users want to buy stuff from eBay. eBay and PayPal service have gone done and this experience alerts people that.

Anyway, I have deleted my rants.

LOL, it gets warm, but nothing near that hot. I sit on the couch regularly with it on my lap doing work, surfing, etc. Hasn't made me sterile yet  After an hour or so my legs are quite warm and I have to get them some air.

Holy crap I cannot believe the number of scam messages I've gotten from eBay on my laptop! 14 Nigerian buyers, and 5 buyers offering more than twice the amount asked for, saying it's for a relative of some sort, offering to send via Fast Moneygram or something, then wanting all my personal info.

I never saw this much when I was selling DVDs. Saw the Nigerian scam once or twice, but never multiple times on the same item.

Just heard that eBay is raising all the prices for eBay Stores too.

That's because your DVD auction listings probably never had the "magic" word in them.
