How I test:
Drives are formatted and a surface scan run on each drive.
Any drives with ANY bad sectors are not sold.
Any drives making abnormal noises are not sold.

I asked this Brent this question as well. Here is his responce.
LOL - because the guy .... I bought them from is under the (mistaken) impression that label=manufacturer warranty. What he doesn't understand is that all the HD manufacturers keep the OEM serial numbers seperate from the retail serial numbers. If you do a lookup on an OEM drive it will give you an error message and tell you to contact the manufacturer of your computer for warranty service on the drive (if it even finds the drive's serial number).

Hence, he removed them.

Much. Let me put it this way, I work on a LOT of laptops. And anytime I buy myself or my wife a new laptop, this is the FIRST upgrade I do. EVERYTHING is significantly faster. Gives you that "snappy" feel that a fast desktop computer has.

I could not agree more. I just purchased on of Brent's hard drives to upgrade my 600E.

Ultrabay HD Adapter. They are about $45-50 off eBay (unless you get REALLY lucky).

Here is a link to the adapter. I also have one of these drives in an external enclosure and use it to backup and transport large files.
