Rescue and Restore Questions

#1 Post by rebop » Sun Aug 20, 2006 7:14 pm

From another topic where I asked the following:

If I have made a new R&R after installing all my software, do I need to keep the original hidden file or can I reclaim that disk space? If so, how?

Where is the new visible file located?

And if I do another R&R, does it replace the previous "new" one if I select the same name?

If it matters, the one I created after software install is named "Base". So did that replace the original hidden one?

I have an 80GB drive, yet have only 38.4 available. My programs and files are likely right around 10GB. So I am trying to figure out where all the rest of the space is and what can be reclaimed.

Thanks, but I must be missing something.

I do not see anywhere to delete a backup.

And, any screen that does show a backup, such as restore single files, only shows the "Base" backup, does not show the original. Unless the original was named base and my backup added to that.

So where do I delete all and make a fresh one?

I'm hoping this will regain the drive space. As I mentioned, I have 38.4 free, likely 10GB of data and programs, 9.9 GB Base backup (so it says when I try to copy it to another drive). That totals 58.3 on an 8o GB drive. So where is my other 22 GB?

Thanks.

When you make your first backup with R&R the base backup is what is created. All subsequent (incremental) backups are add-ons to the base backup (which remains).
