Video Card on T23

#1 Post by vakero1 » Tue Aug 17, 2004 10:20 am

I was checking the t23 specs and it comes with a 16mb Savage video card. Is this the same video card on the t22 but with double the ram?

Anyways, what kind of gaming have you guys been hable to squeeze out of the t23?

The T23 has the Supersavage IX/16 while the T22 has the Savage IX8 so the T23 should in theory be a better performer. As far as I remember, you can easily play Quake3 and Warcraft3 without too much detail but you'll get around 1fps if you try Doom3. Actually, that would be funny, like playing a powerpoint presentation

lol, believe me, I wasn't even thiking of installing Doom3. Almost have to drop it to 640*480 on my desktop just so it can run smoothly.

Yeah I thought so...Actually, reading my post, I understood why these two games play well on a T23: they are CPU and not graphics card limited. And since the Tualatin on the T23 (esp. the 1.13 and 1.2 versions) is sometimes faster than even a P4-1.6, thats why they have such good performance.

well, they are cpu limited with good 3d cards.(at least geforce or radeon with 32mo)
With the supersavage card they are video card limited!
They can run but with low resolutions and details. AS a matter of fact, the supersavage was the first mobile video card which could run somewhat correctly quake3, quickly followed and surpassed by the mobile geforce and radeon lines.
If I correctly remember, the supersavage has 2 pipeline against one for the savage chipset and no TL (tranform and lightening) unlike most mobile radeon or geforce.

That's correct. Double pipe/Double RAM. Also better drivers - but all of that generation of chip are pretty much out of date for 3D these days.
