Fingerprint's driver problem. I think...

#1 Post by yackyack » Wed Aug 23, 2006 11:49 am

Hi everyone!
First post, first problem.

I was updating my fingerprint's driver when I lost my connection
to the Internet. When I restarted my computer it booted normally
but I could not see any logging screen, only a black screen.

I can access the bios, the IBM recovery/restore stuff and the DOS.

I think I have to downgrade the driver but between what I think
and what is right there is always a great difference ...

Anyone can help me?I don't want to do something wrong and destroy
my computer.

Sorry for my english. I hope you understand me.

Thanks

Y.

Welcome to the Thinkpad Forums :)

If it is a driver problem, you can boot into safe mode, by hitting the F8 key during the Windows XP loading screen, and then re-load the drivers either from the internet or via a manual install in safe more (this fixes any corrupt *.sys files that Windows has to load). Then reboot.

You could, of course, also simply use the R&R system to fix things up if you have a backup or by doing it from scratch.

HTH :)

I met someone who looks a lot like you.
She does the things you do.
But she is an IBM.

Thank you for your answer!:D

Unfortunately I don't have any backup.
I'm going to try the "safe mode" method tomorrow.

I'll let you know.:?
